A Celebratory Lunch at Queen's House
The historic Queen's House in Greenwich provided an elegant setting for a special anniversary celebration, bringing together 80 guests for an afternoon of exceptional food, thoughtful hospitality, and memorable moments. Blending heritage surroundings with a carefully curated menu, the event showcased Rhubarb's ability to create refined experiences in some of London's most iconic venues.
A Warm Welcome in The Orangery
Guests gathered in The Orangery for a canapé reception, where they enjoyed a selection of seasonal bites, having the opportunity to mingle before being invited into the Great Hall for lunch. The canapé menu featured smoked salmon cheesecake with golden beetroot and caviar, Cornish crab cake with curry leaf emulsion and seaweed, Rhubarb's fried chicken with black garlic and rosemary salt, and Black Bomber cheese doughnuts with mushroom and truffle purée. Vegetarian and vegan guests were equally catered for, with dishes including Asian vegetable rice paper rolls and Parmesan sablé dodgers.
A Seasonal Three-Course Menu
Guests were called through to the Great Hall for lunch. The first course featured Forman's cured beetroot salmon, accompanied by smoked salmon pâté, heritage golden beetroot, mustard mayonnaise, and watercress. Served with Rhubarb's house-baked breads and salted Jersey butter, the dish offered a fresh and elegant start to the meal.
For the main course, guests enjoyed Cornish hen served with tarragon and spinach purée, torched sweetcorn, ornamental kale, and a crisp potato rösti.
To conclude, guests were served an Apple & Miso Mille Feuille featuring caramelised Granny Smith apple, feuillitine, miso caramel, and Tahitian vanilla ice cream. The dessert delivered a balance of sweetness, texture, and complexity, providing a memorable finale to the meal.
